By 'you', he really just meant honest and straightforward, perhaps careless in his recklessness, but never malicious.

"I know you aren't perfect, Kai." Neither of them are! By their own admissions, they're both pretty stupid, there's no point in pretending like they aren't. "But I know you're not trying to hurt anyone, either. That's something that can just kind of... happen, completely on accident, when you're close to someone. It doesn't make me think any less of you." Nobody can fully understand how someone else thinks and feels, and that's bound to lead to misunderstandings and hurt feelings.
